
Information Security Specialist (Information Security Tasks)

Job Responsibilities
-
Participate in the planning and execution of security staff assistance visits (virtual and in person), surveys, assessments, and quarterly meetings in support of the Command Security Manager Program.

Document observations and results in accordance with local procedures.
-
Assist with conducting internal assessments using established checklist.
-
Evaluate marking accuracy through document sampling and document results and findings to ensure that classified information is properly marked.
-
Document on-the-spot corrections and recommend corrective actions to assess the overall health of the security program in support of the Command's Self-Inspection Program.
-
Process courier requests; prepare courier cards and courier travel authorization letters; and maintain the database and metric analysis of issued and destroyed cards for accountability and reporting.

Provide assistance with preparing classified information for transmission of transportation.

Maintain a copy of classified material inventory.

Destroy classified material in accordance with applicable records management disposition instructions.
-
Process reported and suspected security incidents in accordance with local policy and procedures to include conducting preliminary inquiries, maintain security incident files and databases (electronic and hard copy); and prepare reports; and identify trends.

Assist with classification and declassification management to include original and derivative classification utilizing established classification and declassification guidelines.

Apply appropriate markings and redactions to prevent unauthorized disclosures.

Assist and provide administrative security support during the preparation of Security Classification Guides and maintain the required library.

Assist with conducting prepublication and security reviews and provide recommendations to identify equities for referral.

Assist with implementing and maintaining the Controlled Unclassified Information Program; conduct data collection; evaluate marking compliance through sampling; document results and findings; recommend corrective actions; conduct preliminary inquiries and provide reports.

Conduct data collection; review data accuracy by resolving discrepancies; maintain databases and spreadsheets to document data collection; and prepare analyses and reports.

Assist with maintaining and executing the Headquarters' Industrial Security Program.

Maintain and execute the Headquarters' sub-registry.
-
Provide assistance to the Program manager based on control points.
-
Establish and maintain sustainable repository tracking systems (e.g. spreadsheet, database, etc.) to document the following: Headquarters Classification and Declassification Guides, prepublication and security reviews, security incidents, DD Form 254, appointed Contractor Monitors, designated OCAs, designated declassification authorities, appointed security assistants.

Execute a multifaceted Security, Education, Awareness and Training (SETA) Program including the Initial Newcomer Orientation briefs, mandated annual security training, refresher training awareness, and reference materials.

Collect classified and controlled unclassified information and material for destruction in accordance with local policies and procedures.

Operate the SEM Model 23 disintegrator and perform operator-level maintenance.

Maintain expendale media destruction supply inventory and equipment certification and maintenance schedule.

Provide witness capability for destruction of all Top Secret, SAP, SCI, and other materials.

Assist with the administering Defense Courier Service actions.

Assist with preparing documentation and materials and conducting pickup and drop-off of materials.
-
Perform receipt and delivery of DCS documents and materials.

Job Requirements
-
Must possess a current DoD Top Secret (TS) Clearance (Interim acceptable) based upon a Tier 5 Investigation adjudicated in the past five (5) years with a determination of eligibility access for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma. A Bachelor's Degree is preferable.

Must have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of Information Security Support Services.

Must be certified to operate destruction equipment, including a Security Engineered Machinery (SEM) Model 23/5 disintegrator.

Must have direct knowledge and application of DoD governing laws, regulations, precedents, and directives supporting security program(e.g. information, personnel, physical, industrial) and operational, procedural, and technical standards that achieve interoperability with other non-DoD Federal Government Agencies.

Must have working knowledge using Records Message Traffic (RMT) and the Automated Message Handling Systems (AMHS).

Must have knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise Architecture framework (e.g. SIPR, NIPR and Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications Systems (JWICS) networks ), and the Information Technology (IT)/ Cyber security rules and regulatory authorities to develop and implement policies and planning concepts, and project management methods.

Must have general knowledge and perspective of the operational, procedural and technical standards that achieve interoperability with other non-DoD Federal Government agencies.

Must be proficient using basic Microsoft Office software applications to include SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
